During the holiday season, Turning Pointe Academy of Dance brings to life Tchaikovsky's classical ballet, The Nutcracker. This year the performance spotlights local young dancers and professional guest artists: Robert Poe, founding member of The Big Muddy Dance Company -and- Ashley Hamann, former member of Missouri Ballet Theater. We want to bring this classical story to life in the community...

The Nutcracker Ballet, featuring the world famous music by Russian composer, Peter Tchaikovsky. It is the story of a young girl who receives a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. The story unfolds as she dreams of a battle between toy soldiers, led by her nutcracker, and an army of mice. Her dream takes her to The Land of Snow where she encounters beautiful dancing snowflakes. Next, she visits The Land of Sweets, meets the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, and witnesses a celebration complete with waltzing flowers and global dancers!
