Local attorney and businessman Ben Allen has been named to fill the unexpired term of late Trustee Eldon "Twirp" Williams on the Godfrey Village Board. Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick made the nomination at the start of last night's Village Board meeting. Allen was appointed by a unanimous vote of the trustees
Williams was murdered October 16 in what police say was a random act of violence, and a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Allen says he is honored to serve.

In other village business, first reading was given to an ordinance outlining the various materials and practices to be used in the construction and design of subdivision streets. It's an ordinance that was thought to have been approved under a past board, but apparently was not. This move restarts that process.
