Alton Police are investigating a Thursday night armed carjacking. Just after 10pm, a woman parking her car in the 600 block of E. 4th Street was approached by two black males in their late teens or early 20's, with their faces covered by black bandanas. She was not injured, but the suspects left town with her white 2016 Kia Sportage.
The car had Missouri plates, UL4A2U. Alton Police Chief Jake Simmons tells The Big Z this is the latest in a series of carjackings and other violent crime in the Metro East.

He says with the changing of the guard at the St. Louis Police Department, which plays an integral role in the operation of the License Plate Reader Cameras on the Clark Bridge, they are still streamlining the process of using the equipment. As a result, Simmons says you can expect to see a large police presence on and near the bridge this weekend and in the near future.
