The Village of Bethalto is joining with other municipalities across the state in asking Governor Bruce Rauner to veto Senate Bill 1451, which establishes the Small Wireless Facilities Deployment Act. The act would limit municipal authority to regulate, site or charge permit fees for small wireless facilities.
Bethalto Mayor Alan Winslow tells The Big Z the bill was written by the telecommunications industry.

Winslow says they are not trying to stop the technology from coming in. This new technology is said to be critical for the advancement of 5G cellular technology.
