The driver of the wrong-way vehicle in a fatal crash in Godfrey has been charged with four felonies. 22-year-old Amanda Runtz of the 5000 block of Southwood Drive in Godfrey has been charged in the January 17th crash that killed 30-year-old Marlon Burford of Roxana and injured 28-year-old Timothy Varble of Jerseyville.
Runtz has been charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence Causing Death, Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence, one count Reckless Homicide and one count Aggravated Reckless Driving. Prosecutors filed charges today (Monday) after toxicology results came back allegedly showing Runtz had benzodiazepines in her system. Numerous witnesses reported Runtz making a u-turn on the highway, heading northbound in the southbound lane. Bond has been set at $250,000.
