The search for a new Madison County Board member may be over. The seat in the District 16, which serves much of Granite City, opened up after long-time board member Helen Hawkins was appointed to the Metro East Sanitary District Board last week.
Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler said he will appoint Susan Presswood Hawkins' replacement, pending Board approval. Presswood was one of five candidates for the position, which covers Nameoki Township. Presswood is a self-employed hair stylist. Presswood will serve the remainder of Hawkins’ term, which expires in December 2018.
