The Alton Police Department and Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office continue to investigate a fatal fire in Alton over the weekend. The blaze at a home in the 2000 block of Amelia Street claimed the life of 45-year-old Terry L. Wilson.
The fire was called in by a passer-by. Alton Fire Chief Bernie Sebold tells The Big Z the fire itself was put out fairly quickly.

He says the fire does not appear to be suspicious, and may have started on the stove. The Madison County Coroner's Office has indicated smoke inhalation as the cause of death.
