The Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District has been given a gift of $30,000 from the family of a former member of their team. Candi Down, the widow of Captain William (Bill) Bill Down, and her son Michael recently presented the department with the check to be used for the purchase of a Fire/Rescue UTV.
The donation came at the board meeting on 9/11. Fire Chief Jason Bowman tells The Big Z the gift is going to be put to good use.

He says they have been looking at several UTV’s but have not yet picked one out. Bowman says they want to make sure they get what the family wants, and make sure it will be well utilized within the fire department. Captain Down passed away about three months ago.
