There has been a conviction by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office Elder Justice Division. Jerry L. Yeager Junior was charged for failing to complete home repair work for a couple over the age of 60 in Granite City in 2014. Yeager was charged with aggravated home repair fraud and a class 3 felony of theft over $500. He operated the business Ultimate Roofing.
A Madison County jury last week found him guilty of the felony theft but not guilty of the aggravated home repair fraud charge. Prosecutors said the victims gave Yeager more than $15,000 as a down payment for repair work to their home including siding, garage doors, storm doors, windows and gutters that were damaged in a hail storm in the spring of 2014. They said only the roof work had been completed, but it failed to pass a code inspection for Granite City and no other work was ever finished. The victims said they tried to reach Yeager for more than a year with no resolution so they turned to authorities for help. Authorities say there are more cases pending in Madison County Court.
