The James Killion Park in Alton will be home to the Alton NAACP Back to School/Stay in School event on Saturday. The event will offer free backpacks and school supplies to nearly 1,000 kids in grades K-12 with free bus transportation also provided, as well as a picnic lunch.

As for the activities, there will be free dental screenings, the Alton Fire Department Smokehouse, the 618 Group, Alton Steppers and a few guest speakers. The event runs from 10am to Noon and students must be in attendance in order to receive the free school supplies.
