The fundraising portion of a project to establish a Godfrey Legacy Trail continues. An event that includes period dining and re-enactors representing Benjamin Godfrey and his close business associates will be held tonight held at Lewis & Clark Community College.
There will be 8 historic sites marked on the "Legacy Trail." North Alton Godfrey Business Council President Zeke Jabusch tells The Big Z their fundraising efforts have raised about one-third of the goal of $95,000, that will be used to fund a variety of projects

Sites on the trail are: the Godfrey and Gilman Warehouse; St. Paul's Episcopal Church; the Godfrey and Gilman homes; the Alton and Sangamon Railroad Freight Station in Alton. In Godfrey, the Godfrey Mansion; the Godfrey Cemetery; the Benjamin Godfrey Chapel; Monticello Female Seminary (now Lewis and Clark College); and the Plank Road traversing between the Mansion in Godfrey and 4th & Belle in Alton.
