An Illinois State Police Trooper from Greenville has been arrested and relieved of his duties, accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with at least two female victims. 29-year-old Trooper James T. Dierkes has been charged with one count each of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Criminal Sexual Assault.
The allegations stem from his time as an employee at Vandalia High School, which predated his hiring with the Illinois State Police. Earlier this week the ISP received a request for assistance from the Vandalia City Police department, regarding allegations of criminal sexual assault made against Dierkes. He is being held in the Fayette County Jail on a $1 million bond.
