Representative Katie Stuart (D-Edwardsville) is hosting a veteran's benefits fair in Collinsville later this month. Stuart said the motivation for the fair is to bring together local organizations and businesses to provide employment opportunities to veteran's who might not otherwise have heard of those opportunities. Returning veteran's of recent years or those that have been discharged from the service for decades are encouraged to attend.
Stuart told the Big Z, sometimes certain job opportunities aren't always widely heard about by some veterans and this fair is a good way to connect with those who may be qualified for certain jobs.
The fair is free and open to the public, though the job hunt is reserved solely for those who have served in the armed forces. The fair is Wednesday August 30, from 10am until noon at the American Legion Post #365 at 1022 Vandalia Street in Collinsville.
