In April of last year, the City of Wood River approved the purchase of 69 acres of land commonly referred to as the 9th Street land for a project intended to reduce or maybe even eliminate flooding in the area that includes the Eastwood Subdivision. With more land there than they need, the city council has approved seeking Requests for Proposals for 28 acres of that property.
City Manager Jim Schneider tells The Big Z the land could be used for a variety of things.

The land is to the east of the pump station. The city also appointed Chris Sobrino as Treasurer, replacing Tracy Kennett with a term expiring in May 2022.
