Robert Kiser

Robert D. “Bob” Kiser, 85, died at 11:52 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Born August 4, 1931 in Alton, he was the son of Dorsey and Edna (Collier) Kiser.  Mr. Kiser served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Philippine Sea (CV-47) as an Aviation Boswansmate (ABAN) during the Korean War.  He was a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and a former member of their ritual team.  He was also a lifetime member and past Commander of the Alton American Legion Post 126.  In 1993, he retired from the Pepsi Cola Corporation in Alton as a driver/salesman. For 35 years Bob Kiser was known in the Upper Alton area as “Pepsi Bob”.  On May 14, 1954, he married the former Conita “Connie” DeWitt in Alton.  She preceded him in death on November 18, 2016.  Surviving are two daughters, Karen Kiser of Alton and Kimberly Burris (Craig) of Alton, one son, William Kiser (Kim) of Bloomington, IL, and four grandchildren, Brady Kiser, Katherine Kiser (Edwin Lamb), Grace Burris, and Sam Burris.  A memorial visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military honors by the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.  Memorials may be made to the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
