Clayton Krug

Clayton H. Krug, 81, died at 4:17 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his residence.  He was born July 30, 1935 in Alton the son of the late W. Clayton and Mildred I. “Brownie” (Hermann) Krug.  He retired after 36 years as a lineman for Ameren.  He was a member of IBEW local 649 and a longtime member of the Alton Motorboat Club and a US Army Veteran.  He married the former Sandra J. (Wilderman) on March 3, 1954 they later divorced.   On October 23, 1993 in Alton he married Paulette (Snyder) and she survives.  Also surviving are one daughter, Julie A. Hodge of Alton and one son, Michael Krug (Deborah) of Madison, South Dakota, four grandchildren, Dustin R. Hodge (Abbie) of Brighton,  Ashley N. Walter (Derek) of Bethalto, Candace J. Krug (Crystal) of Alton and Christopher Krug (Genipher) of Choctaw, OK, five great grandchildren, Austin R. Hodge, Corbin R. Hodge, Gunnar H. Walter, Mattilyn Krug, and Christen Krug, two step daughters, Angela Powell (Rick) of Davenport, Iowa and Alisa Walker (Duane) of Shawnee, KS, four step grandchildren, Matthew Powell, Reilly Ashlock, Victoria  Ashlock,  Audrey Ashlock, one step great grandchild, Skylar and his dog, Lil.   He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Jason Hodge, Michelle Hodge and Kimberly Krug and one son in law, Robert Hodge.   A Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Father Bob Gettinger officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by Alton VFW Post 1308.   Memorials may be made to the 5 A’s Animal Shelter.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
