Peggy Balsters

Peggy A. Balsters, age 83, went to be with the Lord at 11:15 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.She was born December 6, 1933, in Wood River, the daughter of the late Leslie Earl and Laura (Earnhart) Sawyer.She married Harold W. Balsters on April 18, 1953 in Wood River.  He passed away on November 15, 1999.Peggy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, ZONTA, the Madison County Extension Homemakers and Bethalto Woman’s Club. She was also a 4-H Club leader and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed traveling, decorating, cross stitching, card clubs with friends, working with flowers and spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws, Jane (Gary) Ahasay of Bethalto and Amy (Jim) Viehman of Glen Carbon; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Nate (Tori) Hoffmann, Aaron (Irene) Hoffmann, Sarah (Chris) Staller, Tim (Allison) Hoffmann, Gary (Nicki) Ahasay Jr., Lori (Jason) Selvidge, Matthew Ahasay, Chase Viehman and Morgan Viehman; sister-in-law, Verna Balsters; and numerous nephews and nieces.Preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Don Balsters; five siblings, Junie Sawyer, George Sawyer, John Sawyer, Molly Sawyer Hughes and Barbara VanDoren; and brother-in-law, Melvin Balsters.Visitation will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Kale Hanson and Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church and or the Parkinson Foundation.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto will be in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be left at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
