Robert “Bob” Weishaupt, 98, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017. Born November 2, 1918 in Alton, he was the son of Conrad and Myrtle (Daniels) Weishaupt. Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a life time member of the VFW Post 1308 and also a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He retired in 1981 after 40 years of service for the Amoco Oil Company. On September 1, 1956 he married the former Edwina Needham in Alton. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2010. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Pat Tanney of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Jessica (Jared) Hamilton and Michael (Jessica) Tanney, five great grandchildren; Christopher, Tucker, Zoey, Mady and Beau and one on the way. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Seitzinger of Godfrey, a special lady friend, Lorene Flowers who was near and dear to his heart and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church or the American Heart Association. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
