Solomon Roady

Solomon Wesley Roady, 90, of Brighton passed away at 2:38 am on Sun Oct 15, 2017 at St Anthony’s Medical Center in Alton.He was born on May 20, 1927 in Fidelity, IL to Solomon William & Beryl (Watson) Roady. He married his lifetime sweetheart, Audrey (Day) Roady on Feb 9, 1945 in Alton, IL and they have celebrated 72 wonderful years of marriage. Solomon and Audrey were blessed with two sons & daughter in law; Wesley & Angela Roady and Larry Roady, 7 Grandchildren &  9 Great Grandchildren.He was a US Army veteran serving during W W #2 and made his living as a self-employed plumber and general contractor. In retirement, he enjoyed wood-working, working outdoors, square dancing, and numerous other hobbies. He also loved spending time, resources, and services to help anyone in need. In doing so, he taught his family countless valuable life-lessons. He was truly the patriarch of his family and quickly earned the respect of everyone he knew.He was a member of the Alton VFW Post #1308 and the Bunker Hill American Legion Post 578. He was also a member of the Jerseyville Moose.He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers; Kenneth, Virgil, & Joyce Roady. Visitation will be Thurs Oct 19, 2017 from 5 to 8 pm at the Targhetta & Wooldridge FH in Brighton Funeral Services will be at 10 am on Fri Oct 20, 2017 at the Targhetta & Wooldridge F H in Brighton with Rev  Jim Johnston officiating       Burial will be in Brighton Cemetery Memorials may be made to  the First Christian Church of Alton
