Billy D. Shoemaker, age 87, of Godfrey, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 25, 1929, in Louisiana, MO, the son of Otis and Gladys (Ward) Shoemaker. His wife, Patsy, preceded him in death.
Billy was a charter and life member of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA). He was very proud of his service in the US Army and was a member of Alton VFW #1308. Billy had worked in the Graphic Arts Department at SIU Edwardsville. His greatest joys in life were riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.
He is survived by three children and a son-in-law, Otis Shoemaker, Gail and Ron Fowler, and Gary Shoemaker; four grandchildren and their spouses, Marissa and Kevin Dunn, Kimberly Shoemaker, Whitney Shoemaker, and Blake and Danielle Shoemaker; one great-grandchild, Holden Shoemaker; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Patsy; he is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ward Shoemaker; a daughter, Connie Lee Shoemaker; and a daughter-in-law, Luanne S. Shoemaker.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Walter McCaslin officiating.
Burial will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Wood River.
