Mearlen Wayne Elledge, 88, of South Roxana, IL, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Sun. Oct. 22, 2017 at Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon, IL.
He was born Aug. 11, 1929 in East Alton, IL to the late Everett Mearl & Erma (Pepper) Elledge.
On Jan. 1, 1989, he and Barbara C. Furnish were married in Las Vegas, NV. She survives in South Roxana.
Wayne was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran had worked at Owens IL Glass Works and later owned and operated Gold Star Auto in East Alton, IL.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Connie (Bill) Rexing of Brighton, IL; 2 step-daughters: Susan (David) Hackney of Deer Creek, IL and Debbie (Dale) Lilienthal of Mackinaw, IL; 2 step-sons: Richard (Annette) Mardis of Oldsmar, FL and Joseph Wayne (Michelle) Mardis of Mackinaw, IL; 2 grandchildren: Jacob Rexing of Brighton and Kelsey (Brent) Weaver of Godfrey; 9 step-grandchildren: Brett Sievers, Alex Hackney, Derek Hackney, Tara Wood, Nick Mardis, Danielle Flaugher, Darren Lilienthal, Kara Mardis and Jamie Mardis; 19 great-grandchildren; and uncles and aunts: Laverne (Cathy) Elledge and Albert Yost of East Alton, IL.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Charles “Gene” Elledge and a sister, Shirley Stauffer.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Wed. Oct. 25, 2017 at Paynic Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Unity Hospice.
