David Jenkins

David L. Jenkins, 84, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Center in Hillsboro, IL. Born May 4, 1933 in Alton, he was the son of Coy and Mary (Houck) Jenkins. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a self-employed business owner. He was a past president of the Alton Wood River Sportsman’s Club. He married the former Verne McKay. She preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Nora Fitzgerald (Dan) of Alton and Linda Voorhees (Don) of Brighton, two sons, Bryan Jenkins (Mary) of Godfrey and Mike Jenkins (Diana) of Granite City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one brother, Ed Jenkins (Janet) of Alton and Evelyn Bunt (Don) of Rosewood Heights. A private memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
