Gary Lyle Hawkins, 66, died at 8:02 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Rancho Manor Healthcare & Rehab Center in Florissant, MO. Born September 2, 1951 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of George and Myrtle (Roark) Hawkins Sr. Gary retired in 2004 after over 30 years of service as a painter for Local 471 Illinois State Painters. He was a member of the Grace Methodist Church of Alton. On November 29, 1986 he married the former Nancy Buettner in West Alton, MO. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Kyle Hawkins of West Alton, MO, and two sisters, Jane Page (Toby) of Alton and Norma Hawkins of Oklahoma. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Richard and George Hawkins, and two sisters, Carolyn Hawkins and Bonnie Hawkins. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be private at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton.
