Dan E. Gusewelle, 65, of Cottage Hills, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018.
He was born on August 28, 1952, in Alton, IL. The son of Raymond and LaVerne (Deahl) Gusewelle, both preceded him in death. He married Janet Bomball on March 3, 1973 in Livingston, IL. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Dan is a life time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, in Prairietown, IL. He is a member of the Moose Lodge, # 1349, in Wood River as well as a proud Teamster. He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a very proud uncle. Dan was a truck driver for Olin Corporation for 40 years. He was in the Peace Corp in India for 2 years, as well.
Dan is survived by two siblings, Kathie (Randall) Voyles of Columbia, SC, and Neil (Riesa) Gusewelle of Vilonia, AR; a sister-in-law, Wanda (Tom) Gusewelle of Richmond, VA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a close friend, Sherlyn Becker of Bethalto, and numerous friends.
Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a brother, Tom Gusewelle and a sister, Sue Cullison.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Prairietown. Pastor Dale Skeesick will officiate. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will follow at Prairietown Cemetery
