Barbara Jean Withers, 59, went to her heavenly home at 4:11pm on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton after a short illness. She was surrounded by many loved ones.
She was born on October 13, 1958 in Wood River, IL, the daughter of James “Bill” and Lavada (Hankins) Withers.
Barb graduated from Civic Memorial High School. She previously attended Bethel Baptist Church, Ivy Heights Church of God and then River of Life Family Church until she was unable to get out much. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan, having all his movies and music, plus tons of memorabilia. She was also a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. Barb loved to laugh and have fun and never complained no matter what life brought her way. She loved people with an unconditional love and will be missed by so many.
She is survived and will be missed by her mother, Lavada of Bethalto; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Rodney Walls of Honduras; a niece, Jamie Walls of Bloomington, IN: a nephew, Steven Walls and his wife, Ashley of Savanah, GA and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many great friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Withers, her grandparents, Burton and Esther Hankins and Charlie and Marie Withers.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 16, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Terry McKinzie.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
