Loretta Maxine McKinney Grounds, 97, of Alton went to be with her Lord at 11:55 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Jerseyville Manor.

Born Oct. 16, 1920 in Gallatin County, IL, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Sarah (Harris) Maynard.

Maxine retired in 1978 after 24 ½ years as a packer for Owens-Illinois Glass.

She married John Grounds Aug. 18, 1978 in Alton.  He passed away June 21, 2006.

She was a longtime member of Beltline Christian Center in Alton.  Her church was her life, and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Maxine is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Verla and Bill Moyer; 5 grandchildren, Diana Bryant, Darcy Hunter, Robin Faison, Marla Fischer, and David Barker; 9 step-grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 19 step-great grandchildren; and three great-great “grandflowers”, Lily Bryant, Daisy Bryant, and Lily Wittman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Paul Barker, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 11 a.m. until services begin at 12 p.m.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to Free Will Baptist International Missions.
