Henry Parmley

Henry Eugene 'Gene' Parmley, 87, passed away 3:30 pm, Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Mounds, IL on January 23, 1931, he was the son of Thomas and Augustine (Daniels) Parmley.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War from 1951-54, being stationed in Germany.

He had been employed as an inspector for Laclede Steel for 29 years before retiring in 1993.

On April 9, 1954 in Hartford, he married Jacqueline Faith Sones.  She died October 16, 2005.

Surviving are a daughter, Laurie Ann Parmley (her companion, Nancy Hall) of Alton; grandson, Justin (Kristi) Parmley; great grandchildren, Jesse, Kyle and Allison Parmley; brothers-in-law, Richard (Lynda) Sones, Jesse (Marilyn) Sones; special friend and cousin, Ruth Sones;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; step-mother, Laura Parmley; wife; and brother, Charles Parmley.

Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm, Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.  Rev. Ken Barnhart will officiate.

Burial will follow in New Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery in Bellefontaine Neighbors, MO.

Memorials may be made to the family for the planting of a living memorial.
