Paul Jones

Paul Vester Jones, 75, died at 12:50 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Oxford, Mississippi on July 31, 1947 and was the son of the late John Vester “J.V.” and Alice Frances (Smith) Jones.

Paul graduated with the Class of 1965 from Jersey Community High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted with the United States Air Force, where he served our great nation and received his honorable discharge in 1969.

A hard working man, Paul provided the best possible life for his family and ultimately ended his working career as a Breadman with Bunny Bread, prior to his retirement.

He married Nancy Jones on September 12, 1970 in Grafton, Illinois. Throughout their 52 years of marriage, they were blessed with three daughters and the joys of thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

 Paul was known for his outgoing and witty personality. He was an honest and fun loving man, who never met a stranger and often had a joke to share with whomever he was speaking to. The greatest joys of his life came from the time spent and the memories created with his family, most especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Jones of Jerseyville; three daughters, Shannon Jones and her companion, Tim Reno, of Jerseyville; Stacy Harris-Jones and her companion, Henry Medina of Jerseyville and Stephanie and Jake Scroggins of Bunker Hill; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher (Kaylen) Harris, Haleigh (Blake) Witt, Jayden Jones, John Chappell, Henry E. Medina, Tanner Reno, Tyler Reno, Tiffany Reno, Tracy Scroggins, Thomas Scroggins, Taylor Scroggins, Tyler Scroggins and Tucker Scroggins; two great grandchildren, Sophia Witt and Jaxon Harris; two brothers, Greg Jones and Tony Jones, both of Jerseyville; a sister in-law, Christina Huff; three brothers in-law and sisters in-law, John and Mary Jones of Grafton, Robert and Kim Jones of Jerseyville and James and Sherrie Jones of Ohio; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister in-law, John Henry Jones, who died in infancy; Darrell Lee Jones and William Woodrow “Bill” and Bonnie Jones; along with his father in-law and mother in-law, Hubert Lewis and Betty Elizabeth Jones.

Per his wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and no public services will be held.
