Lillian Holman

Lillian Holman, age 87, of Alton, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Hospital.She was born February 25, 1926, in Alton, the daughter of Orland and Anna  (Clarke) Ells. She married Paul E. Holman on April 23, 1955, and he survives.She loved to garden and made a “mean” vegetable soup.In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by five children and their spouses, Twila  Stroup-Holman, Aune Batson, Paul B. and Mary Holman, Pamela Campagno, and Phillip and Diane Holman; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Roger and Kim Bassman, Kathy Bassman, Carol and Mike Jones, Amy and Kirk Krabbe, Marci Compagno, Jill Santo, Mike Compagno; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Martin Porter and Orlando Porter Jr.; three sisters, Lorraine Strange, Anna “Betty” Walters, and Rose Porter Hall.A private graveside burial service will be held at a later date at Valhalla Memorial Park.Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton are in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
