Linda Hanning

JERSEYVILLE - Linda Sue Hanning, 68, died at 2:05 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 with her family by her side, under the care of Blessing Hospice.

She was born on August 31, 1948 in Jerseyville, one of six children born to the late Middleton Perry & Mary C. (Schuster) Scoggins.

Linda grew up in Jerseyville and graduated with the class of 1966 from Jersey Community High School.

She resided in the Alton/Godfrey area for many years and worked various jobs throughout her life, including Pick of the Litter in Godfrey, where she worked as a Dog Groomer until her health began to decline.

She married Arthur “Bill” Hanning on July 19, 1997 in Grafton and together they made their home in Delhi and have shared nearly 20 years together.

Linda was a lover of animals, particularly dogs and enjoyed Thrift Store shopping and traveling throughout the country with her husband. Some of her favorite memories where those created when she and Bill would travel back to Ohio to visit his family.

When she and Bill were not traveling, Linda enjoyed spending time gardening and reading a good book on her front porch.

Surviving are her husband, Bill Hanning of Jerseyville; a son, Jason Rodgers of Jerseyville; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee & Brian Watts of Brighton; three grandchildren, Justin, Alex & Ashleigh; and a brother, Michael Scoggins of Branson, MO.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Holland on April 23, 1988; and four sisters, Joyce, Julia, Evelyn and Donna.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, where she will be laid to rest alongside her son Thomas. Rev. Joel Lohr will officiate.

Memorials may be given to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Care of Crawford Funeral Home.
