Apple Pie with Streusel Topping

Single pie crust

5 Granny Smith apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tablespoons butter

1 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter
1 tsp cinnamon


Line the pie crust into a glass pie dish and flute the edges.

Peel apples and cut then into very thin slices. In bowl gently mix apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, corn starch, cinnamon and salt.

Layer the apples in the pie crust. Cover with Streusel Topping. Bake at 350°; for 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Streusel Topping: Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Cut butter into flour mixture with pastry mixter or fork until combined and has the texture of small peas.

This pie is so easy and makes you look like you worked in the kitchen all day. There is nothing like homemade apple pie - this will not be like any pie you've had from the store.

This is also a great pie to make in a deep pie dish. You will need more dough - make a double pie dough recipe - and add about 3 more apples. That is a pie contest winner!
