Alton Memorial Convenient Care Ribbon Cutting

RiverBender.com; Alton Memorial Hospital, a division of BJC HealthCare, ‘officially’ opened their Convenient Care Clinic at 5520 Godfrey Road in Godfrey, IL today. The Riverbend Growth Association, lead by Monica Bristow, marshaled Growth Association Ambassador’s to be present for the momentous event. Monica welcomed the new establishment to the area and pledged the assistance of the Association in helping the operation succeed. After that, the group stepped out into the sunny, but frigid, winter day cut a blue ribbon in front the clinic. After the words of welcome and the cutting of the ribbon, the staff conducted tours of the completely renovated space. The clinic Manager, Michelle Gross, LPN, explained that the facility has 3 fully equipped exam rooms, a lab room and a procedure room intended for sutures, etc. Gross said that the clinic will have a staff of 7 including Physician’s Assistants; Nurse Practitioners; and Registered Medical Assistants. Dr. David Burnside, M.D., Director of Alton Memorial’s Convenient Care Clinic has been in the Memorial Hospital system for 16 years and thinks the time has come for establishment of clinics such as Convenient Care to address health issues that “do not warrant an ER visit.” “Visits to the clinic,” says Burnside, “will cost significantly less than a visit to the Emergency Room because the clinic does not carry the full suite of medical devices and equipment typically found in a hospital ER. However, Dr. Burnside was quick to add that “Convenient Care has the full weight and purpose of Alton Memorial Hospital behind it and that, when through the process of quick diagnosis, it becomes apparent that the patent requires the capabilities of a hospital, the patient will be quickly transported to the hospital.” Gross says that the hours of operation are from 2:00pm through 10:00pm seven days a week.
