The Madison County State's Attorney's Office has filed charges against a woman who allegedly stole from the purses of seniors while their back is turned. The Alton Police Department last month released surveillance photos from several stores around the area - mostly grocery and drug stores - showing a woman that they said had been preying on the elderly between mid-December and early February.
Alton Police Department Public Information Officer Emily Hejna tells The Big Z 58-year-old Hattie M. Anderson of the 12,000 block of Partridge Run Drive in St. Louis approached her alleged victims and waited for them to become distracted or momentarily walk away from their cart.
