A number of street and sewer projects are on the books for 2019 in Alton, according to information shared last week by the city's mayor. This winter the city is making improvements to sewer mains on Washington Avenue from College Avenue to Homer Adams Parkway, and the city will be going out for bid this spring for asphalt paving on Washington Avenue.
Combined with other projects that includes parts of Broadway, College, and Washington Avenue, Mayor Brant Walker says there will be a lot of work going on around town in 2019.

The city is also working on a grant to repave State Street from Rozier to Harold Street, and is getting ready to repair sidewalks in front of Alton Middle School and Lovejoy Elementary. Walker made these statements as part of his State of the City Address at the monthly meeting of the East End Improvement Association.
