A Foster Township Trustee and former school board member at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Alton has announced she is running for a state office. Republican Amy Elik will challenge Democrat Monica Bristow of Alton in the November 2020 election. Elik is currently the only Republican that has announced a bid for the seat representing Illinois’ 111th District.

She says if elected, she would not vote for Mike Madigan as Speaker of the House. Democrat Monica Bristow won her seat in the Illinois House by 356 votes last November, or about 1% of the votes cast. The election is a little more than a year away, to be held November 3, 2020.
