Godfrey’s mayor made public late last week his thoughts about possibly having to close the village’s parks. He said a handful of people not adhering to social distancing guidelines may prompt the village to close all of the village parks as the COVID 19 crisis progresses, but now says people were apparently paying closer attention to those guidelines last weekend.
Mayor Mike McCormick tells The Big Z as a result, the parks will stay open, at least for now.

McCormick says he will continue to evaluate the behavior of park-goers to determine if the parks can remain open. With the Shelter-at-Home order in place, the village’s Arbor Day Celebration and Fishing Derby scheduled for the end of this month will be postponed and rescheduled for a later date.
