Steady progress continues to be made on improvements to Gordon Moore Park in Alton, but the effects of this spring’s weather has slowed progress a bit. According to Alton Parks and Recreation Department Director Michael Haynes, they are currently working to wrap up a few odds and ends around the new concession stand, like repaving the parking lot and doing some landscaping.
Haynes tells The Big Z the secondary entrance is nearing completion, but that project was slowed earlier this year.

The second entrance and improved existing entrance are projects that will hopefully alleviate some of the traffic jams that are typical during high-usage times. Haynes says they won’t start work on the existing entrance until the new one is done.
