Former Democratic state Sen. Bill Haine has been appointed to the Illinois State Board of Elections. Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced the appointment Thursday. Pritzker appointed two others members to the elections board and reappointed another. Appointments require Senate approval. Haine recently wrapped up a career as a state senator that began in 2002 and ended in April, having chosen to not run for another term.

In addition to his time as a state Senator, Haine is a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He has served as a member of the Madison County Board, and was the Madison County State’s Attorney for 14 years before moving into state politics.
