As we first reported to you in 2017, there is a plan to raise the lower lanes of U.S. 67 in West Alton. The idea is to lessen the impact when the Mississippi River floods. A public meeting to discuss the project is scheduled for next week.
That area usually floods first when the river waters rise. Missouri Department of Transportation spokesperson Shaunda White tells The Big Z they will meet with you on Tuesday, October 15th from 4-6pm at the Audubon Center in West Alton.

No formal presentations will be made during the open house-style hearing. The project is scheduled to begin in 2021.
