A protest held outside the meeting space for the Lewis and Clark Community College Board called on the newly selected board chairman to resign. The rally was sponsored by the Missouri Council on American Islamic Relations, or CAIR, and drew several dozen people, some holding signs expressing unity, love and solidarity.

Syed called on David Heyen to resign from the board for the good of the college and the community. He also urged those in the group to always stand up to hate, on-line and in person.
Heyen admitted last week to sharing Facebook posts that have been called racist and anti-immigrant. Heyen says he was new to social media and simply wanted to start a conversation about certain topics.
