Drivers who use Interstate 255 in St. Clair County need to add a little extra time to their commute starting today. The Illinois Department of Transportation reports more roadwork is planned on the pavement on I-255 between Collinsville Road and Mousette Lane through early November.
The work is scheduled to start today and the restrictions will take place daily with two lanes will remain open in both directions between 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. These lane restrictions are necessary to complete pavement repairs. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
