Three people were taken into custody after a reported shooting Sunday afternoon in Collinsville. A suspect vehicle fled the scene after the shooting, eventually heading into Missouri and crashing in downtown St. Louis. The three suspects have not yet been identified, but the chase reportedly involved speeds at times over 100 mph.
Authorities say the shooting incident took place around 2pm on Main Street in Collinsville with suspects allegedly shooting at other vehicles. Police responded and pursued the vehicle on Highway 157 to I-270 east then to 55/70 south toward St. Louis. Spike sticks were used to try to slow down the suspect vehicle, but it continued with a damaged tire across the Stan Musial Veteran’s Memorial Bridge and eventually crashing near Locust and Tucker in downtown St. Louis. Three suspects attempted to flee on foot but were eventually captured and face multiple charges.
