The Thursday night fireworks displays in Alton and Grafton are accomplishing the goal set out by organizers. Almost a month in to the schedule, the fireworks are shot off at dusk, bringing large crowds to each city, according to the head of the local tourism bureau.

The shows will be held every Thursday through September 9, with the exception of July 1 since that is so close to the Independence Day holiday and each city hosts its own firewoks extravaganza for the holiday.
