The topic of elected officials' salaries came up at Tuesday night's Godfrey Village Board Meeting. Changes must be ratified 180 days before an election. An elected official's salary cannot be changed during their term.
So whoever is elected Vilage Clerk in the spring will receive an annual salary of $65,000 in year one, stepping up over the course of four years to a salary of $71,000. The mayor will receive similar steps, but $1,000 more per year. Under the proposed plan, new trustees will go from $500 a month to $650 per month. The trustees voted to send the guidance to the village attorney to draft an ordinance to be voted on at the next meeting in early October.
