The Wood River City Council has approved the purchase of 69 acres of land commonly referred to as the 9th Street land for a major project. The hope is to reduce or maybe even eliminate flooding in the area that includes the Eastwood Subdivision.
City Manager Jim Schneider tells The Big Z this is a good first step in making that happen.

The cost of the purchase is $350,000. The land is to the east of the pump station.
