Charles Kassing

Charles Ithel Kassing, 78, formerly of High Ridge, MO, died at 5:15 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Willow Rose Rehab and Health Care Center in Jerseyville.

He was born on January 15, 1940 in High Ridge, the only child born to the late Ithel and Junetta (Sutton) Kassing. After graduating high school, he enlisted with the United States Air force.

Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to High Ridge and began his working career as an instructor with SouthTech High School in Saint Louis, MO.

Life took Charles to many areas throughout his life, until he returned to the family home in High Ridge after his parents passing, where he remained for many years, relocating to Jerseyville with his daughter in April 2018 when his health began to decline.

He was a lover of music, most especially Elvis Presley, Hank Williams Jr. and Reba McIntyre; enjoyed traveling with his son, and particularly enjoyed his frequent trips to Las Vegas. He also possessed an extensive stamp collection that he started as a young boy and continued throughout his life; and was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan and spend over 40 years as a season ticket holder.

Surviving are two daughters, Melissa Kassing of Jerseyville; Michelle Kassing of California; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his son, Robert Kassing on October 29, 2017.

Cremation rights will be accorded and no services are planned at this time.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
