Virginia Rae Stinson, 88, of Bethalto, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Liberty Village in Maryville.
She was born in Eldorado, IL, on October 2, 1930, the daughter of Donovan and Ethel (Grable) Roberts. She married Leslie T. Stinson on October 13, 1951, in Eldorado. He survives.
Virginia was a bank teller at Bethalto National Bank until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Bethalto Presbyterian Church, a member of Bethalto’s PTA, Bethalto Woman’s Club and the Illinois Children’s Home and Aide Society. Virginia enjoyed going out with her friends for coffee and meals as well as spending time with her family and friends.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, Tim (Susie) Stinson of Moro, IL and Julie (David) Yock of Manhattan, IL; a sister-in-law, Mabel Roberts of Pontiac, IL; and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha and Kimberly Stinson, Kiera and Colin Yock.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gene Roberts.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until time of service at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Jerry Wray officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10:15 am on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Memorials may be made to Bethalto Presbyterian Church and/or the Alzheimer’s Association.
