Joe Ann Dudley, age 92, of Edwardsville, IL and formerly of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away at 12:56 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at University Nursing & Rehab Center in Edwardsville. She was born April 6, 1927 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of the late Homer and Clara (Hurt) Walls.
Joe married Bobby Ray Piercy on June 3, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, IL. He preceded her in death in 1961. She later married Frank Dudley in 1963. He also preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by one daughter, Rindy Little of Glen Carbon; three sons, Lance Piercy and wife, Kathy of Collinsville, IL, Scott Piercy of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Charlie Dudley of Bluford, IL; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and nephew, Mike McClure of Mt. Vernon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Nathan Ray Piercy; granddaughter, Brooke Dudley; one sister, and two brothers.
Joe Ann had several different jobs throughout her work history. She was a telephone operator, retail associate, and one of the first “meter maids” in Mt. Vernon.
She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. She also enjoyed quilting and golfing.
Joe was cremated according to her wishes. There will be a graveside committal service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IL with Pastor David Shores presiding. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
