Marilyn Karns

Marilyn J. Karns, 76 of East Alton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Cedarhurst Living of Bethalto, Illinois.

She was born on October 15, 1943, the daughter of the late James T. and Mary L. (Lagemann) Holland. She married Richard 'Dick' Karns on December 26, 1964 at United Brethren Church in Wood River, he survives.

Marilyn was a teacher at the Roxana School District where she retired from after 37 years. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church and enjoyed being part of the Women's Group at the church, and the S.R. Girls Club. Marilyn loved to travel, go on drives, shop, and spend time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dick, their daughters, Jennifer (Chris) Davinroy of Collinsville, and Jill (Greg) Stimac of Bethalto; her sister Nancy (Bill) Wells of Roxana; and grandchildren, Tabitha, Brandon, Ryan, Cole and Megan.

Due to the current State of Illinois restrictions on social distancing the visitation is limited to 50 people or less at a time inside the funeral home. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf, Bethalto. Family would like to request masks to be worn. A private funeral service will be held at Elias, Kallal, & Schaaf Funeral Home, Bethalto, the next day with Pastor Bill Pyatt officiating; graveside services at Valhalla Memorial Park to follow and all are welcome to attend.  

Memorials are appreciated and may be made to the Roxana School Foundation and/or the Alzheimer Association.
