Carol Barnett

Carol Mae (Stampe) Barnett passed away on December 26, 2020 in Alton.  Carol was born on November 30, 1937 in the family farmhouse near Shipman, the second child of Howard S. and Josie Stampe.  On July 20, 1956 she married the love of her life, Wayne Barnett, and they shared 59 years of marriage before he passed in 2015.  Carol's greatest joys were her faith in God, her husband Wayne, and her family.  Her most loved titles were Farm Wife and Grandma.  She loved music and spent many years as church organist, teaching music, and as a member of the handbell choir.  She loved children and would drop everything to spend time with her grandsons.  She loved to cook for her family and friends.  She had a beautiful soul, she welcomed everyone with a big hello, and treated everyone with kindness.  Surviving is a daughter, Jeanie (Mark) Wittman of Brighton, a son, Steve (Monica) Barnett of Shipman, grandsons, Jimmy (Veronica) Barnett of Shipman and Zac Barnett of Shipman, and a great granddaughter, Blaine Barnett.  Also surviving is a sister, JoAnn (Jim) Barbour of North Carolina, a brother, Lee (Sharon) Stampe of Texas, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:  Bob (Cathy) Barnett of Utah, Bill (Hilda) Barnett of Ohio, Helen Bouillon of Texas, and Sandy Barnett of Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, and her son James Wayne Barnett.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Stroke Association or the Alzheimer's Association.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
